IPMAT (Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test) is an entrance exam taken by students after class 12th to secure admission into the IPM program, a dual degree course, at top management institutes like IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. On the other hand, other BBA entrance exams like SET, XET, and NPAT are taken by students to enroll in undergraduate management programs at renowned colleges such as NMIMS and St. Xavier. IIM Indore was the first college to start this IPM course though different undergrad colleges started different BBA entrance exams for admission in their colleges like ASMSOC started NPAT, SIBM started SET etc.

For both IIM Indore & IIM Rohtak:60% in General/OBC category & 55% in SC/ST/PwD category 
Upper Age LimitApplicants must have been born on or after 1 August 2005 if they belong to General/OBC.For SC/ST/PwD category candidates they get 5 year relaxation (i.e. either born on or after 1 August 2000).
Candidates appearing in IPMAT 2025 Candidates those appearing for Class 12 in year 2025 are eligible.

There are many non IIMs that also have IPM program like  IIFT (Indian Institute of Foreign Trade), Kakinada, NALSAR University, TAPMI (Manipal University), Nirma University.

Key Differences: IPMAT vs Other BBA Entrance Exams

  1. Organising Authority:
  • IPMAT: IIM Indore & IIM Rohtak.
  • Other exams like CUET (for DU), SET (Symbiosis), NPAT (NMIMS), and Christ University ET are organized by their respective universities.
  1. Eligibility:
  • All the exams ask for a candidate to have passed Class 12 but some institutes have minimum percentage criteria.
  1. Duration of Exam:
  • IPMAT: 120 minutes.
  • Others may be of different durations of 60 minutes, 90 minutes up to 150 minutes.
  1. Number of Questions
  • IPMAT Indore: 90 questions
  • IPMAT Rohtak: 120 questions
  • Other tests: 60 to 120 questions
  1. No of Sections/Parts
  • IPMAT Indore: Quantitative Ability (MCQ + Short Answer) and Verbal Ability.
  • IPMAT Rohtak: Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability and Logical Reasoning.
  • Other tests are mostly Logical Reasoning and General Knowledge.
  1. Difficulty Level in Math
  • IPMAT Indore: Takes as much as Class 12 Maths that includes heavy amount of algebra and calculus.
  • Other questions: Pretty much Class 10 Maths with simple arithmetic, algebra and stats.
  1. Logical Ability
  • There in IPMAT Rohtak but not there in IPMAT Indore.
  • There in SET, NPAT, CUET as well as Christ University ET
  1. General Knowledge Part:
  • Not there in IPMAT Indore as well as IPMAT Rohtak
  • There is the facility of it in CUET, SET, and Christ University ET.
  1. Negative Marking:
  • IPMAT: There ( 1 on wrong MCQ answers)
  • Other such very few tests provide Negative marking facility like CUET but SET and NPAT do not.
  1. Selection Procedure:
  • IPMAT: Aptitude Test + WAT (Written Ability Test) & Personal Interview.
  • Others tests: Aptitude test score, PI, WAT depends largely on all; some on aptitude score while others may contain PI or WAT.
  1. Total Focus:
  • IPMAT, IIM Indore, has a more challenging math and quant problem difficulty level.
  • LR in IPMAT is much tougher compared to Indore but the maths is easy
  • All other BBA entrance tests are comparative level playing field in QA, VA and LR and sometimes in GK also.
