Let me explain everything about IPMAT 2027 covering- what it is, whether you are eligible to apply for the same or not, and also what comes in the exam. Most importantly, I would be informing you on how a beginner should start preparation without panic.
What is IPMAT :
Let us first understand what exactly IPMAT is. IPMAT stands for Integrated Program in Management Aptitude Test. In simple words, this is an entrance exam that allows you to enter IIMs directly after class 12 for its course. The course is called a 5-year Integrated MBA Program. The most renowned and popular one is IPM of IIM Indore. However, similar exams are also conducted by IIM Rohtak, IIM Ranchi, IIFT, and a few other colleges.

Eligibility:
There are certain eligibility criteria which you need to follow to enrol for IIM’s integrated MBA program. The criteria are simple but very important. Let us start with the:
Age Criteria:
To be eligible for IPMAT 2027, you must be born on or after 1st August 2006. However, there is 5-year relaxation given for reserved categories.
Academic Criteria:
You must have passed Class 12 or be appearing in IPMAT 2027 with a minimum 60 percent score for General Category and minimum 55 % for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
IPMAT Exam Pattern (IIM Indore):
IPMAT has 3 sections.
- Quantitative Aptitude (MCQ), where options are given and test taker has to choose one correct answer.
2) Quantitative Aptitude (Short Answer). Here, the options are not given, and test taker has to type down the answer.
3) Verbal Ability
Total time:
The duration of the test is 2 hours, i,e. 120 minutes.
Marking:
Math has two separate sections as mentioned above. Both matter equally. In Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), you get 4 marks for every correct answer, and lose 1 mark for every incorrect answer. The short answer will give you 4 marks for every correct answer.
There is no mark deducted for any incorrect answer. The Verbal section has the same marking scheme like the QA section (MCQ) : plus 4 for correct answer, and minus 1 for incorrect answer.
IPMAT Syllabus:

Quantitative Aptitude :
Both the sections of QA, MCQ and Short answer have mostly class 9-10 math, and not JEE level. So, you don’t have to panic.
The challenge is application + speed, not formule. You will come across the topics that you have already studied before like:

So, it is neither about finishing the syllabus fast nor about solving random tough questions from all the sources. The reality is that IPMAT is a selection exam, not a syllabus exam. You really do not need 10 different books not 8 mock tests every right from start, rather, what you need is :
• Accuracy
• Concept clarity
• Sectional balance
• And calm decision-making
Best Preparation Strategy :
Let us discuss the best strategy for IPMAT 2027. This will be the perfect roadmap for the beginner. Let me divide the roadmap according to the classes, so that you can refer to the routine and the roadmap of the class you are in. You can focus on the following routine if you are in
Class 9 or 10:
Focus on foundation
• Strengthen Class 9–10 maths. It is this level ,not the JEE level, relax.
• Build reading habit (20 min daily). Reading editorial helps a lot.
• Learn mental calculations. Fast calculations helps you in speeding up on your solving the questions.
• No pressure. No mocks for now. There is lot of time for mocks. We will start it later.
Class 11:
Start structured preparation
• 1–2 topics per week (QA + Verbal)
• Daily reading. Reading articles, books and editorials is the key.
• Basic sectional practice. Each section is important. Divide your practice time accordingly.
• Understand question patterns
Class 12
Shift to exam mode
• Full syllabus coverage
• Weekly mocks
• Analysis > attempts

After IPMAT Exam:
Now, you must be eager to know what happens after you have written IPMAT . Correct? So, if you clear the cut off, you will face Written Ability Test, commonly known as WAT and Personal Interview. Different colleges have different selection criteria. In WAT and PI, they check:
