What are these exams:

Let us discuss the first thing first. Before we compare, let us quickly understand what each exam stands for.

IPMAT

The Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test is the entry to the prestigious 5-year IPM programs at IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak, along with IIM Ranchi , which also accepts IPMAT scores. This is definitely the amazing for students who aim for the IIM tag earlier than others. We have talked about that on our website which explains what are the benefits of choosing IPMAT after 12th.  Don’t forget to read this (LINK TO THE ARTICLE) to help yourself make your decision easier and faster.

JIPMAT

The Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test, commonly known as JIPMAT, conducted by the NTA, gives admission to IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya. It offers the same end goal that is a 5 year management degree, ofcourse with a different level of difficulty level and the structure and pattern of exam.

SET

The Symbiosis Entrance Test unlocks admission to the BBA programmes of Symbiosis colleges. It is not an integrated management program. Instead, it is a 3 year BBA programme. After its completion, you can pursue MBA through CAT or other management entrance competitive exams.

Cool. Now, when our basics are sorted, let us dive in to the comparisons.

IPMAT vs JIPMAT vs SET :

Let us the see the real differences among these three exams. I am going to mention the real differences among IPMAT , JIPMAT, SET. Guys, think of these exams as if these are three different roads leading to the world of management, but each road has a different speed, vibe, scope and area. Let me break it down for you so that it becomes easier for you to understand. The breakdown that will actually help you understand about them better. This is the breakdown which actually matters to you, I am not going to provide any boring textbook version of the information you want. So, go ahead.

1. Difficulty Level :

Let us see how tough these exams are. Are they really tough? If yes, how much ?

IPMAT (Indore + Rohtak):

IPMAT is the toughest of all the three exams. Both IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak are tough. Especially IPMAT Indore which includes high-level Quant questions. So, if math is your strength, you are going to enjoy the challenge.

JIPMAT :

JIPMAT is comparatively easier and lighter version . It is much friendlier. The Quant is not as difficult or intense as IPMAT Indore, and if I talk about the overall difficulty, that too is moderate. This is a very good option for students who want the IIM tag but do not want to face the cutthroat competition.

SET :

The level of difficulty of SET is not high. It is easily manageable. The focus is more on basic math, logic and English.

2. Sections :

Here, I will tell you what all sections we have in all these exams so that you know what you actually need to be strong in to crack any of these exams. So, let us see what you will actually face in the exam.

IPMAT Indore :

IPMAT Indore has three sections, namely, Quantitative Ability (MCQ), i.e. it will have choices and you have to choose one correct answer. The second section will be Quantitative Ability (Short answers). The third section is Verbal Ability. Each section will have sectional time limit. Please note that both math sections ate time bound separately, so speed and accuracy is must.

IPMAT Rohtak:

IPMAT Rohtak has three sections, Quantitative Ability, Logical Reasoning and verbal Ability. There are no short answers and the exam is slightly easier than IPMAT Indore.

JIPMAT :

JIPMAT, which gets you the admission in to IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya, which means that the scores of JIPMAT are accepted by IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya. JIPMAT has three sections, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, and Verbal Ability. This exam is balanced and mostly predictable. It becomes easier for first time aspirants because of the same reason.

SET :

SET has four sections. The General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and general Awareness. This exam feels more like an all – rounder exam.

3. Colleges :

Let us see where you will end up if you choose any of these colleges. Now, of course, that is the most important part, isn’t it? Let us be honest. Exam matters. Yes. But it matters because of the college behind it. I am sure you would like to attempt for that exam because that is the requirement to get entry to the college you want to get in.

IPMAT is conducted by IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak. The IPMAT Indore scores are accepted by IIM Ranchi. So, these three colleges , IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak and IIM Ranchi give you 5 year IPM, IIM tag, excellent placements, strong campus culture, national recognition and more. So, students, if long term brand value matters to you, then IPMAT is the best thing you will be doing after 12th.

JIPMAT’s scores are accepted by IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya. So, you will be getting the IIM tag from these institutes too, which are though new but growing fast.

SET: SET is conducted for BBA, to get admissions in to Symbiosis Colleges.

SCMS Pune especially enjoys a great reputation, the college where you will get the engaging campus life, strong corporate exposure and definitely a great base for students who are aiming and dreaming for MBA. It should be noted that this is a 3 year BBA program and here you will be getting your base ready if you dreaming for MBA. It is not like the other ones mentioned above, the five year integrated program in management.

4. Competitiveness:

Let us now understand what kind of competition this exam has. For doing the same, we need to know the ratio of students and seats. So, let us try and understand the number of students versus seats.

IPMAT Indore:

It has lot of competition. It is one of the India’s most competitive undergraduate exams. There is huge number of applicants and the seats are very limited. See, the competition then. Don’t worry, we will guide you how to fit in that competition and then move ahead others. Stay in touch with this space, and subscribe CH EdgeMakers & IPMverse to our channel to get every information of your dream career.

IPMAT Rohtak:

IPMAT Rohtak for IIM Rohtak is comparatively less intense than Indore. But, it still does have competition.

JIPMAT :

JIPMAT for IIM Jammu and IIM Bodhgaya has moderate competition , and is therefore the more accessible exam. Watch this video (LINK OF THE VIDEO FROM OUR CHANNEL, WHERE WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT JIPMAT PATTERN AND LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY OF QUESTIONS) to know more about the kinds of questions that appear in JIPMAT, so that you will have a fair idea of level of difficulty and thus the competition.

SET :

SET , as mentioned before is 3 year BBA program. It has high number of applicants appearing for the exam. However, it does have more seats across its multiple campuses. So seats are also more.

Now the real question, which exam you should choose. Correct? That is what you were thinking about?

So, let me tell you that there is not universally best exam as such. There are many factors associated with different exams and on our strong and weak areas. For example, if your math is really strong , choose IPMAT Indore, if you do not want much competition, then you might want to choose JIPMAT, which is a more accessible option. So, it all depends on your strengths and weaknesses. So, if you thrive on Math, logic, and pressure, choose IPMAT.
If you want the IIM experience without the intensity, choose JIPMAT. If you are more inclined towards campus vibes, flexibility, and a strong BBA matter, then choose SET. IT is that simple.

Just remember that you’re not just choosing an entrance test.
You’re choosing the next five years of your life.

All The Best !
